There are blessings we pray to receive, and there are blessings we must pray to preserve.

Life is one of them.

Before we ask for more wealth, greater opportunities, or expanded prosperity, we must remember that none of those blessings matter if we are not here to experience them.

On November 6, during the sacred observance of Yama Deepam, we will light the lamps of preservation and petition Lord Yama, the divine guardian of death and cosmic order, for the protection of our lives and the lives of those we love.

This sacred working is dedicated to seeking protection against untimely death, unforeseen accidents, sudden calamities, and circumstances that threaten the peace and continuity of the family.

We will petition for longevity, divine guardianship, safe passage through uncertain times, and the preservation of our ancestral bloodlines.

This is a working for the living, for the families we hold close, and for the generations whose futures are connected to our own.

Because prosperity means little without life, and every future we hope to build begins with the blessing of being here to witness it.

This is a ritual done under the family or household name.
